Mills Landing is a private oceanfront cottage resort located on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. We are on the southern
edge of Barkley Sound in the little town of Bamfield.
This area, without question, is one of the most productive marine environments in the world. We have some of the west coast's
best fishing right on our doorstep, and we are the closest access point to offshore fisheries that are truly world class. At Mills Landing
we have five solid months of great fishing...and that's no fish story.
Come and see why more anglers choose to fish these waters than anywhere else in Canada. The west coast of Vancouver
Island is paradise, and if you are looking for the best the west coast has to offer....look no further than here.

August 17, 2009The fishing out here right now is unreal, the best of the year and the best that we have ever seen. We had both boats out this weekend and brought back 24 large, all between 21-38lbs.
Big huge screaming fish, mostly whites and marbles and these bad boys are heading somewhere south and we were fortunate enough to get to spend the weekend with them. What a show.
Throwing back 15, 17 and 20 lbers is a pretty nice situation to be in!
Big fish have been out here on the banks for the last 2 weeks pretty steady, although they've
been moving around following the schools of baitfish. There are lots of pilchards out here right now and most of these big hogs are plugged with them. Plugs and spoons are what we have been killing them on, and the best plugs have been the 602, 232 and the 700, although I have to admit Rob Van Pelt from Pacific Net and Twine gave me a ridiculous looking plug with pink eyes, a blue head and a prism-like wrapping Tomic custom made for him and that plug slayed. We got 5 beauties on it, and for a while it was outfishing the 602-which is a gold standard out here. So if you get a chance stop by and see him and order a couple of those things. They're ugly, but they work!
We got some halis out at 10 mile, there's not huge schools of dogfish here right now, so you can get some salmon bellies on the bottom and and actually jig them up rather than deal with sharks, which is nice.
Anyone who is thinking about fishing out here this summer should get on a plane or the ferry right now...it's that good.
