Quote from Dan, one of our buddies out fishing on the weekend.
left Nanaimo at 4:30 this morning. Lines in the water at Kirby by 7:30...limit of 6 by 10:00. Lost a few and had several hit-and-runs. Osama was in the same area having similar success. Green spackleback at 90'.
Best couple hours of fishing I've experience in a long time.
Largest around 25 lbs.
All fish completely stuffed with 4" needlefish.
Quote from Kelly, guest up over the weekend:
Had an awsome trip. No idea how many we caught but it was a ton maybe 40+ landed over the weekend and more lost. Most were in the 4-12 Lb range but we caught fish up to 25 lbs. Fished Kirby up to edward king and everyone was hitting fish and they were packed with needlefish. Fished 80-120 ft.
Another buddy Nathan who was out this weekend and who's also one of those guys smiling behind that huge halibut last report:
What an awesome weekend! Fished Pill Saturday afternoon, played about 15 fish and kept 5, there were lots of little guys. Saturday night we went to Kirby and in about an hour played another 10 and kept 3 for our limit. We could have had a hundred it was crazy - fish after fish after fish. This morning headed back to Kirby and played another 10 and kept 5. The family decided they were done so we headed back home with a bakers dozen. Nothing over 12 lbs and anywhere from 90 to 150 feet. Get out there while it's hot!
Same thing for us at Kirby, the fishing is unreal right now. If there was ever a time to just blast out here based on the fishing, now is the time to do it.
Cheers, ML
