The big boys are now here, we picked up this 35 at 7 mile and won 3rd place in the derby for it ...congrats to Brett Dougan of Nanaimo on the biggest salmon of his life. A 43 won the derby and it was a white spring nailed out at Cree.
Plugs and spoons have been killing them offshore, the 700, 602 and 232 have all been good and this weekend it was hard to beat the copcar, as much as I don't like that spoon...for coho's though, and coho's will take anything really...
We had a couple of days this week where the average size was in the 20's and every boat had at least one 30+ on it. The coho have been stacked out at the bigbank like cordwood for weeks, and we were catching them from the surface right down to the mud when we were trolling for halis.
Halibut fishing is slow, and the rumour is it probably will go to 2/2 on the 15th of August.
Tight lines,
ML
