Getting Here
By Car: Once you reach Vancouver Island you can drive to Bamfield from either Victoria or Nanaimo.
From Victoria head north on the main highway (#1) and take the exit to Lake Cowichan which is just north of Duncan. Continuing past Lake Cowichan you will enter a network of gravel roads that head towards Bamfield (~120 km). The roads are marked quite well, and you shouldn't have a problem finding the correct route, just follow the power lines. Make sure that you have a spare tire and enough gas. Travel time from Victoria is about 4 hours. Be aware of active logging trucks.
From Nanaimo head north on the island highway and take the exit to Port Alberni (Highway #4). As you arrive in Port Alberni take the left-hand exit to Bamfield. Follow the signs to Bamfield, and it should take you approximately 1.5 hours from Port Alberni (and ~77 km is gravel road). The road is well maintained and is usually in good shape. Make sure that you have a spare tire and enough gas. Travel time from Nanaimo to Bamfield is about 3 hours. Be aware of active logging trucks.
