Pachena Lighthouse:

The Pachena Lighthouse was built as a result of the 1906 shipwreck of the Valencia . Prior to 1906, almost 60 vessels and 711 lives fell victim to this area known as the graveyard of the Pacific. The wreck of the Valencia took more than 40 hours, and 80 people lost their lives less than 100 feet from shore.

The Pachena lighthouse is at the 10 km. mark along the west coast trail heading towards Port Renfrew from Bamfield. It is one of the few tiny little spots of civilization that you will see along this monster trek, and makes for a very enjoyable day trip. Allow 3 hours one-way.
